The Heart of Service: Honoring Amy Moore
Every year, MomCo gives the Heart of Service Award to one U.S. volunteer and one global volunteer who show us what it looks like to serve with open hands and a generous heart.
The award has a long history. It began as the Heart of MOPS Award, recognizing a leader or group at MOMCON for extraordinary service. In 2015, it became the Heart of Service Award, an honor given within our volunteer team. Through the years, its heart has stayed the same: celebrating women who give their time without counting the cost, pray for others, believe the best, share what they’ve learned, and find creative ways to live out MomCo’s mission.
This year’s U.S. recipient, Amy Moore, has been doing exactly that, one relationship at a time.
Amy first joined a MomCo leadership cohort in 2020 as a new coordinator. She showed up faithfully, joined the conversations, asked thoughtful questions, and encouraged other leaders as they grew. In 2022, she joined the VolunteerCo, and she has now served as a cohort leader for four years.
If you know Amy, you know her kindness is more than a first impression. She makes sure the people around her feel cared for and have what they need. She prays for her teammates and fellow leaders. She shares her ideas, stays curious, and is willing to try something new. She brings her experience alongside other women so they can grow, too.
Amy also knows that a mom’s path to connection isn’t always simple. She understands the heart of a military mom and the realities faced by moms whose children have health concerns. While serving leaders through VolunteerCo, she continues to lead her local group and make room for moms who haven’t found their place yet.
That is the heart of this award. It is found in the steady choice to show up, make space, offer encouragement, and help someone else take her next step.
Congratulations, Amy. Thank you for loving people and Jesus so well, and for reminding all of us what can happen when we bring our whole hearts to the work in front of us. Whether you serve on the VolunteerCo, lead a group, or welcome the mom sitting beside you, there is room to make that kind of difference.
